This time of year...

Makes me feel like a little kid all over again. Christmas has always been my favorite time of year and I am always ready to get the house all ready for the holidays. Just like normal this year I woke up on Black Friday, not prepared to shop, but to decorate. We spent the day trimming the tree and Christmasing up the house. I love spending hours looking at the ornaments on the tree and squinting my eyes to make the lights look pretty. My favorite part of this year was being put in charge of the outside lights. After wrapping trees and bushes all day and numerous pokes in the eye, I was pretty impressed with the end product. Let the Christmas season officially begin!

 Family

I have a wonderful family and since the day I was born have been grateful that God placed me in this home. I was blessed to be raised in a strong Christian home with people who love me.

I LOVE FOOD

Thursday night, Mom and I spent the evening at cooking school, a tradition we have carried out for the past 5 years. We sat and watched as Taste of Home's chef, Michelle Roberts showed us how to prepare ten wonderful dishes. The smell in the auditorium was amazing. Throughout the night many door prizes, including the food, are given away and this year I actually won a prize! Whenever I get back from this event I always feel like trying all sorts of new recipes. Last night it was just Dad and I at home so I got to cook. Dinner was simple, just pork chops and scalloped potatoes, but I was very proud of my dessert, which got rave reviews from the whole family. My  very first peach cobbler. I'm pretty proud of it....

I'm a football lovin kind of girl.

Saturdays in my world mean one thing, football. I absolutely love it. So yesterday I not only got to support my GSU Panthers, but I brought my mom with me. I'm working on turning her into a football fanatic like me. It was a beautiful day and the Panthers won!!

November 5

While Guy Fawkes attempt to blow up Parliament isn't exactly something to applaud, the famous rhyme and Gunpowder Plot sermons are depicted in one of my all time favorite movies, V for Vendetta. After years of loving this movie, I finally researched it's origin and read a bit about the history of November 5. Fawkes was sentenced to death for his act of treason and every year crowds gather to reenact his death by burning scarecrows that look like him. So there is the history that eventually was made into one of the greatest movies I have seen. If you have never watched this great film, I suggest you do right away. So let the November 5th festivities begin and as always......

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

On a cold a rainy morning....

I'm still choosing joy! While I am not that fond of walking through the streets of Atlanta while I battle the ice cold wind and rain, there is one thing that makes me smile every time I know it is going to be a dreary day. Today I am wearing rain boots! Yes I know it's silly to get excited about splashing in the water, but what can I say, I'm a dork. So while everyone complains about the cold and gross weather, I'm going to go jump in some puddles. I highly recommend it=]

As a extra bonus, while typing this blog I received an email that one of my classes has been canceled today. I love Wednesdays=]

Why VOTE?

This morning I woke up earlier than I usually do so I could go stand in a line, write down my information and cast my ballot at our local fire station. Who wants to stand outside on a cold, windy morning when they could be all warm in there bed? Not many people, but we have been given this right by our forefathers and it is our duty to vote. You might not think your vote matters, but it does. So my challenge to all of you this day is to make a difference in our country by simply taking 15 minutes of your day and pressing some buttons on a computer screen. They even give you a awesome sticker to wear around all day making you look way cooler than everyone else. So get out there and VOTE!!
